Royal Bison Winter - Illustration & Graphics
Illustration and Graphics for Royal Bison’s Winter 2023 Art Fair.
ROYAL BISON
Winter Illustration & Graphics
I’ve been a vendor at the Royal Bison Art & Craft Fair for a couple years now and was thrilled at the opportunity to conceptualize and create some graphics for their Holiday 2022 fair. It’s a wonderful event for not only shoppers but also as a vendor and for so many reasons. Although it’s a Holiday Fair set right before Christmas (and many vendors gear their work towards great Christmas gift purchases), the one rubric was that the graphics shouldn’t be Christmas themed. With that in mind, I wanted the graphics to represent what the winter holidays meant to me, and likely a lot of others: flying to Vancouver Island to visit my family. In a nut-shell (specifically chestnut), a Canadian winter is: Canada Geese and “Snowbird” retirees flying south to escape chilling temperatures; the nostalgic orange glow of city light pollution on an overcast sky; fluffy giant snowflakes.
The scope of the Graphics was extensive, including files prepared for: Social Media (banners, posts, stories), Royal Bison’s website, posters, handbills, decorations and pins.
After the release of their graphics, I was offered a position to join the Royal Bison team and spent a good chunk of time expanding the graphics into large decorations for the fair. It was pretty kick ass getting to scale my teeny prop plane into a big-ol’ display!
